Yvonne Kerékgyártó was born in 1989, Budapest. She studied dramaturgy and scriptwriting
at SZFE (University of Theater and Film Arts, Hungary) and at the Filmuniversität Babelsberg
Konrad Wolf (Potsdam, Germany). She finished her debut feature film FREE ENTRY as
writer/director in 2014.

The independent coming of age drama was selected to the Berlinale Editing Studio in 2013
and later received the “Gamechanger Award” at SXSW in 2015 and the “Best Film award” at
Cinema City IFF Fresh Danube section in 2014. Between 2013-2017 she developed several
projects at MIDPOINT and MFI script development workshops.

She gained experience in writing at ICO Hungary and Paprika Latino INC. In 2013 she
participated at the Berlinale Talents Editing Lab. In 2015 she participated at the Sarajevo
Talents program and The Film Garage script development workshop. With her feature film
project THE BATH she participated at the Frontiéres Co-production market. From 2017 she
works for the National Filminstitute. In the meantime she developed several feature films
with Hungarian directors (Károly Ujj Mészáros, Attila Hartung and Nóra Lakos). In 2020 she
was nominated for the Best Hungarian Screenplay Award in Hungary for FOMO – FEAR OF
MISSING OUT. In 2021 she directed her second feature film: WE STARTED TOGETHER which
premiered in Hungarian theaters in August 2022.
